DALLAS, TEXAS — As communities across the country battle to contain the spread of COVID-19, Hilltop Holdings’ family of companies is joining the fight by supporting organizations serving on the frontline. Together, Dallas-based Hilltop and its subsidiaries PlainsCapital Bank, PrimeLending, HilltopSecurities, and National Lloyds, have donated more than $500,000 to charities across the country.
On April 28 Hilltop made a $300,000 donation to Baylor Scott & White (BSW) Dallas Foundation’s “Employees 1st Emergency Assistance Fund” which assists BSW Health employees who are experiencing financial hardship due to the pandemic. Hilltop’s donation will aid approximately 28,000 BSW caregivers who are among the most profoundly impacted by the crisis, providing them with meals, hotel costs, and childcare. Baylor Scott and White is the largest non-profit healthcare system in Texas.
“Hilltop recognizes the sacrifices of our healthcare workers and the critical role they play in protecting our communities and stopping the spread of COVID-19,” said Hilltop Holdings President and CEO Jeremy Ford. “We are grateful for the selfless caregivers of Baylor Scott and White and we are proud to support them through this difficult time.”
Hilltop’s donation to BSW is only the most recent step the family of companies has taken to support communities in the fight against the pandemic. Some of its additional efforts include:
- PlainsCapital Bank’s Lubbock branches, together with 19 other Lubbock banks, recently donated a total of $343,000 to the South Plains COVID-19 Response Fund to help support nonprofits in West Texas that are tackling the effects of COVID-19.
- Earlier in April, the company’s broker-dealer subsidiary, HilltopSecurities, donated a total of $50,000 to food banks in markets it serves across the country. Food banks in Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, Houston, south Florida, Boston, New York City, Chicago, Denver, and Los Angeles each received $5,000 contributions to support their efforts to feed those who are suffering in their communities. In addition, as one of the nation’s leading municipal advisory firms HilltopSecurities is supporting healthcare providers by offering free financial advisory services to community hospitals struggling to meet the financial demands created by the pandemic response.
- PrimeLending, a leading national mortgage originator, has donated more than $200,000 to local charities in communities it serves across the United States.
“It has never been more important to support our local communities and we are fortunate to have so many dedicated charities serving those in need during this crisis. We are proud to do what we can to help,” Ford said.
